  • Hoosier Tires rule the road at Roebling Road
    7/3/07

Hoosier Tires provided 17 drivers with the winning edge at the SCCA Double National races held at Roebling Road on June 29th through July 1st.
Ian Harms won both races in the Formula E class using the R45A compound as did all the Formula E cars.
Chuck Moran won both Formula Continental races on the R35A compound and the new C2500 construction. Chuck said that even with the new narrower rear the car had plenty of grip and did everything he asked of it in the race.
The Formula Ford race was won both days by Shandelle Leonard, who also tried the new C2500 construction on the front of his Swift DB-1. Shandelle felt that the new design front tire allowed him to place the front of his race car anywhere he needed to.
Also winning twice in the formula car ranks was Clint McMahan in the Formula 500.
Winning one race in the new Formula B class was Ken Tyrrell in his Stohr.

Another notable performance in the Formula classes was Dave Donavin in the Formula Mazda class. In the first race Dave set the fastest lap of the race by a half a second on the last lap of the race. Only a rev limiter problem kept Dave from challenging the reigning national champion for the win. Dave was using the new C2500 construction and the new R45B compound.

In the D Sports Racer category Jean luc Liverato and Dorian Foyil split the victories, both using the R35A compound on their Stohr chassis.
The C Sports Racer victor both days was legendary IMSA champion Jim Downing utilizing the R35A compound in the Hoosier 15 inch radial sizes.

Showroom Stock was dominated by Hoosier with Jim Daniels winning both SSB races in his Mazda and Brian Peele and Tom McCaughey splitting the SSC wins in their Toyotas. All were utilizing the Hoosier DOT competition A6/R6 series of tires.
Other winners on Hoosier DOT tires were the A Sedan winners Tom Ellis and Bob Eubanks, both on 255/50ZR16 R6 tires on their Mustangs.
In Touring 2 , John Tecce scored a victory in his BMW on Hoosier R6 tires.

Also scoring wins were Omer Norton in E Production using 20.0x8.0-13 R45A tires and double winner David Bryson using 23.0x9.5-15 R45B tires. GT-2 winner both days was Richard Smith on a mixture of R35 and R45A compounds.

For the 16th straight year Appalachian Race Tire provided tire support at the event.
